Indian documentary short film 'Tailing Pond's in consideration for 93rd Academy Awards

New Delhi, January 28: In a major development, the award-winning documentary short film "Tailing Pond" produced and directed by Saurav Vishu has officially in consideration for the 93rd Academy Award in the documentary. Tailing Pond is an essential piece of Indian cinema.

The short film tells the untold story of the Jadugora, a village in Jharkhand. The movie traces the impact of uranium mining on the local tribals population at Jadugora in Jharkhand. American Actress Cynthia Nixon who is known for her role in The Women has lent support as the narrator.
 
As an independent entry from India and with support from Shorts TV, Tailing Pond stands a chance to get officially nominated for the Oscars. The film is up against other leading short films from across the world.
 
"I feel honored that Tailing Pond stands a chance at the 93rd Academy Awards. I believed that the story of the people in Jadugora needed to be told and heard across the world and I am humbled that the people of Jadugora trusted me and allowed me to enter their lives and share their stories. I hope that their story receives the attention it deserves and creates a difference," said Saurav Vishnu, speaking on the development.
 
It is written by Monica Vishnu, along with script supervisor Brian Breger. Its executive producers are Anurag Rudra and Saurav Vishnu. It should be noted that Tailing Pond has traveled to film festivals such as New York Indian Film Festival, Jaipur International Film Festival, and many more. The film won the Best Film award at both festivals.
 
Besides, South Indian movie Soorarai Pottru has also joined the race of the Oscar awards under General Category in Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Original Score, and other categories.
