Justice S Muralidhar takes oath as the new Chief Justice of Odisha HC

Bhubaneshwar, Jan 4: Justice S. Muralidhar took oath as the 32nd Chief Justice of the Odisha High Court on Jan 4. Odisha Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal administered him the oath of office, at Raj Bhawan. Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik attended the oath taking ceremony virtually. Before being appointed as the Chief Justice of Odisha High court, he was working in the Punjab and Haryana High court.

On Dec 15, reports suggested about the Collegium of the Supreme Court of India headed by Chief Justice of India S. A. Bobde recommending Justice Muralidhar for elevation as the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court. He was appointed as Chief Justice of Orissa High Court on Dec 31 and has now taken the oath on Jan 4.
 
 
The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind had earlier appointed Justice Muralidhar as the Chief Justice of Odisha. Justice Muralidhar has succeeded Former Chief Justice of Odisha HC, Justice Mohammad Rafiq. Justice Rafiq has now been transferred and appointed as the new Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
 
 
Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik has congratulated Justice Muralidharan through a tweet and stated, "Congratulate Justice Dr S Muralidhar on being appointed as Chief Justice of Odisha High Court. Welcome him to Odisha and wish him a successful tenure."
