Panaji, October 23: The Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India organized a Joint Regional Official Language Conference and Prize Distribution Ceremony for Central Government Offices, Banks and Undertakings, etc. located in West and Central Zone at Rabindra Bhawan, Margao in Goa.

Minister of State for Home Ajay Kumar Mishra, Chairman and Minister of State for Ports, Shipping & Waterways & Tourism Shriyut Shripad Yesso Naik were present as Chief Guest. Awards were given to Central Government Offices, Banks and Undertakings for doing excellent work in Official Language under various categories from the lotus feet of Chief Guest Shriyut Shripad Yesso Naik and Ajay Kumar Mishra.

Mishra said that any language / dialect is not just a vehicle of ideas, but also an important means of building culture, civilization and rites of nation. Hindi has those unique cultural values of India, due to which we are incomparable in the whole world. Hindi has sentiments of crores of Indian people who think in Hindi, speak in Hindi and whose lives are ingrained in Hindi.
 
 
Mishra said that in the last years, the PM and the Home Minister used Hindi and expanded it and keeping in mind the prevalence of Hindi, Hindi was used to make people aware even in the global epidemic like Corona. Mishra said that in the initial phase, people of the country got success in the fight against Corona with instructions like applying masks, washing hands and keeping a certain distance. Mishra also said that earlier people used to feel inferior in speaking Hindi but due to the use of Hindi by the PM and Home Minister in last 5-7 years, now people are using Hindi freely.

Mishra said that today when we are celebrating the Amrit Mahotsav of freedom, it is also the time for us to remember the freedom struggle of our country. During the freedom struggle of the country, emphasis was laid on Swaraj, Swadeshi and Swabhasha.

Anshuli Arya, Secretary, Department of Official Language, said that modern technology has an important role to play in promoting the progressive use of Hindi and many effective means have been provided by the Department of Official Language to work smoothly in Hindi. In order to make the use of Hindi easier in official work, the Department of Official Language has prepared 'E-Mahashabdkosh Mobile App' and 'E-Saral Hindi Sentence Kosh', apart from other e-tools. He said that similarly we have developed memory-based translation software 'Kanthasth' with the help of C-DAC Pune to aid in translation, using which Hindi can be promoted in official work.

The Secretary, Department of Official Language, said that in the past, said that the Department of Official Language has made available the e-magazine library platform on its website to various central government offices where they upload their home magazines.
