Srinagar, October 23: Serving the people at its best, Kashmir Police on Thursday launched a toll-free helpline at PCR Kashmir. The toll-free number can be used by the people in case of any exigency or assistance. IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar asked the people to feel free to call on 1800-180-7193 (24×7). This was started after Jammu and Kashmir police launched a distress helpline number for members of minorities residing in Kashmir in the wake of the recent killing of civilians in the Valley.
IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar in a tweet said, “Kashmir Police established Minority distress #helpline at PCR Kashmir. In case of #emergency, one may call for #assistance on 0194-2482626.”
The setting up of the helpline comes days after four people from the minority community, including two teachers, were shot dead by militants in Srinagar City. While the Sikh community has decided that government employees from their community will not attend work till their security is ensured, some Kashmiri Pandits have temporarily moved to Jammu in the wake of the killings.
