Jammu, October 25: Asserting that the new phase of development has started in Jammu and Kashmir, Union Minister Amit Shah gave a stern warning to terrorists and Pakistan proxies saying that “any attempt to vitiate peace and scuttle development won’t be tolerated”.
Shah, who is on a three-day visit to the union territory, while addressing an event in Jammu, said, “The new phase of development under the leadership of Modi has started in J&K but attempts are being made by inimical elements to create a hurdle. I have come here to assure you that nobody will be able to create a hurdle and disrupt peace and development.”
"J-K was the first UT to have achieved 100 percent first dose of COVID-19 vaccination in the country because it is in the heart of PM Modi. Soon, it will also achieve 100 percent second dose of COVID-19 vaccination," the Union Minister further said.
Without naming the Congress, National Conference and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Shah took a dig at them saying that the three families are answerable to the people for their failure to develop Jammu and Kashmir over the past seven decades.
He further said, "What did these three families did for Jammu and Kashmir in last 70 years? A Panchayat has been formed in every village. Now 'Dadagiri' of these three families will not work." Shah further said, "Our new industrial policy was mocked by the three families, but already there is an investment worth Rs 12,000 crore. As many as five lakh youths will get jobs out of investment worth Rs 51,000 crore by 2022."
Giving the reply to the opposition allegation's Shah said, some people are raising questions about the prevailing security situation in the UT but “I want to answer them with facts and figures”. Shah pointed out that," Between 2004 and 2014, 2,081 people lost their lives -- 208 people were killed every year. From 2014 to September 2021, 239 people lost their lives. But we are not satisfied. We want to create an atmosphere where no one loses life to terrorism."
“Jammu and Kashmir is placed in the heart of the prime minister and under his government, there will be no injustice, discrimination, or appeasement,” he said.
Shah said the time for sidelining the people of Jammu has come to an end and now both Kashmir and Jammu will be developed together.“Jammu has borne the brunt of discrimination for years together. Now, there will be no injustice with anyone and both Kashmir and Jammu will be developed together and the developed J&K will strengthen India,” he said.
In the evening, Shah visited forward areas along the international border in Jammu and interacted with BSF officers and jawans there. The Union Home Minister also visited and inspected three Army Bunkers later in the day and met the families and the residents at the international border.
The home minister also visited the last border hamlet of Makwal and told residents that the Modi government is committed to providing every facility and ensuring development in the border areas.
