Bengaluru, October 25: A shocking honor killing incident has come to light in Karnataka as a 34-year-old Hindu man was abducted and killed allegedly over his relationship with a 24-year-old Muslim woman.
The man has identified as Ravi, was a resident of Balaganura in Alameda taluka, was in a relationship with the Muslim women for the past four years. The report suggests that the women's family was against the relationship and they had also warned them several times.
According to the police, Ravi Nimbargi (34) was reported missing on October 21. Ravi left his house to get groceries, when he didn’t return home for a considerable time, his family filed a complaint the next day expressing apprehension that he might have been killed by the relatives of the Muslim woman. His girlfriend also called up the Police Control Room on October 21 and informed the police that Ravi’s life was in danger.
Following which police constituted 3 teams and started their investigation. During the preliminary investigation, police found out that the girl’s family and relatives had disappeared. They found Ravi's body in the well on October 23. Initial reports suggest that he was strangulated. The dead body was later thrown into the farm well.
A day after it, police arrested the brother and uncle of the woman on charges of murder, criminal conspiracy, and destroying evidence.
“Her father and elder brother were missing so we detained her maternal uncle and her younger brother who confessed to the crime. Based on their information the body of Ravi was spotted in a pond of the village," Vijaypura SP HD Anand said. The police said efforts are being made to determine the number of people involved in the crime.
