Jim Corbett National Park to be renamed as Ramganga National Park, says Forest Minister

Uttarakhand, October 06: In the major development, Uttarakhand's Jim Corbett National Park will be renamed as Ramganga National Park, the director of the tiger reserve said here on Wednesday. The Rāmgangā river flows from the Corbett Tiger Reserve and is known as the lifeline of the reserve.

 

 

Ashwani Kumar Choubey, Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change who recently visited the park and said that it will be renamed as Ramganga National Park. He had said that the formalities regarding the proposal have been completed and a final announcement is likely soon.

 

The director of the tiger reserve gave the information saying, "Union Forest and Environment Minister Ashwani Kumar Choubey who visited Jim Corbett National Park on October 3 said that the name of this national park will be changed to Ramganga National Park."

 

 

 

"Ashwani Kumar Choubey, Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, who visited Jim Corbett National Park on October 3 said that the name of this national park will be changed to Ramganga National Park," the director said. The park’s name was changed to Jim Corbett in 1956.

 

Choubey also announced that a tiger safari will be created at the Dhela rescue centre in Ramnagar. Speaking at an event in Ramnagar.

 

e park is the oldest National Park of Asia, spanning 520 square kilometers. It was established in the 1930s as the Hailey National Park. In 1952, the park was briefly renamed as Ramganga National Park. However, in 1956 it was named after Edward Jim Corbett who is hailed as a pioneer conservationist. He played a key role in the establishment of the national park.
