India sign pact with Israel for development of dual use technologies

New Delhi, November 10: India has inked a bilateral innovation agreement (BIA) with Israel to promote innovation and accelerate research and development (R&D) in startups and MSMEs of both countries for the development of dual-use technologies.

The agreement was signed between India's Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Israel's Directorate of Defence Research and Development (DDR&D). DRDO chairman G Satheesh Reddy and DDR&D head Daniel Gold signed the pact in New Delhi on Tuesday.
 
As per the Ministry, a pact aimed at spurring innovation and speeding up the development of dual-use technologies by small and medium sized firms in both countries.
 
 
Under the agreement, the startups and industries of both countries will work together to bring out next-generation technologies and products in the areas such as drones, robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), quantum technology, photonics, biosensing, brain-machine interface, energy storage, wearable devices, natural language processing, etc.
 
 
 
The products and technologies developed under the pact will be customised to meet the unique requirements of both countries. The development efforts will be jointly funded by DRDO and Israel's DDR&D, the ministry said.
 
The signing of the pact comes after two high-level visits to Israel from India recently.
