“I want to expose you (Akalis), how you have damaged Punjab. Tied up with BSP, got votes, then after Advani govt came they dropped BSP and tied up with BJP. BJP could never have entered Punjab. RSS could never have entered Punjab if these people had not supported them. After that, they brought in BJP. They gave entry to RSS in Punjab. There was no RSS in Punjab. RSS is enemy group of Punjab. You brought them here.” – this is the transcript of Punjabi clip of a speech in Punjab assembly, available in social media. The person seems to be Congress CM Channi, but surely it is a Congress leader.

What does it tell you about Congress? That its hate for RSS has become a sickness that needs to be taken note of after recent outbursts of likes of Rashid Alvi, Rahul Nehru and Salman Khurshid. It shows total bankruptcy of ideas about how to fight an ideology or a philosophy rooted in Bharat and not imported from the west. Secondly, it shows how uneducated and illiterate Congress leaders are. Thirdly, it shows that the CM chosen by Congress seems to be a convert to Christianity. No other Congress leader in Punjab had talked of RSS and BJP as if they were imports from enemy country, worthy of more hate than the Canadian Khalistani people who have infiltrated the farmer agitation and hijacked it, and poisoned the minds of Punjabis.

When you question the very existence of RSS in Punjab as an ‘enemy of Punjab’ then this goes beyond RSS. It is an attack on Hindus because they are the embattled citizens of Punjab who, despite being nearly 40% of the Punjab population, are being treated like a second-class citizen. It has become an unwritten law that a Hindu cannot become a CM of Punjab. In Jammu and Kashmir, the rule was that CM must be from the valley and must be Muslim. Hindus in Kashmir valley were a micro minority and overall minority in JK. An organisation of Hindus and Sikhs, like RSS is presented as an enemy, as an outsider, who got entry into Punjab courtesy Akali Dal.

Now the facts – RSS began its work in Punjab in 1930s. It was a force to reckon with by the time Partition was accepted by Congress without standing up for the Hindus of western Pakistan. It had more than 1500 shakhas in those days in Punjab. Forget RSS accounts. An intellectual of Lahore, A N Bali who had no links to RSS wrote a book “Now It Can Be Told” in 1948 after he escaped to Delhi. It provides complete information about the situation before and after Partition, naked dance of violence, rape and pillage and cowardice of Congress leadership that abandoned Hindus-Sikhs during those horrendous times. He dedicates one chapter on RSS titled “A friend in need..” I have talked about this episode at length in my forthcoming book titled “Conflict Resolution – The RSS Way”. I would just like to quote one sentence to give you a flavour - A.N. Bali noted in this book, “Who else came to the rescue of the people at this stage, but a band of young Hindus, popularly known as RSS? They began organizing every mohalla of every town of the province the work of evacuating of the Hindu and Sikh women and children from dangerous to comparatively safe centres. They organized for their medical aid, clothing and stay. Parties for the protection were organised. Even fire engine brigades were formed in various towns. Arrangements for transport by lorries and buses; provision of escort on the trains carrying the fleeing Hindu Sikhs were organised. Day and night vigils in various Hindu Sikh localities were kept and people were taught how to defend themselves when attacked. [...] These young men were the first to come to the help of stricken Hindus and Sikhs and were the last to leave them for safety in the East Punjab. […] No request for help from any quarter was refused and there are cases which came to them where the Muslim women and children were safely escorted and sent to Muslim League refugee camps in Lahore by the RSS men.8 It is worth mentioning that Sardar Tara Singh wrote the foreword of this book, confirming that Sikhs and Hindus worked closely together to ward off violent Muslim mobs. They even helped Congress leaders escape to Bharat under their guard. Hundreds of RSS workers lost their lives in the process, their families and their businesses. I have a handwritten list of 33 in Amritsar itself that I have quoted in my book – “Sangh and Swaraj”.

Newly minted CM and his friends may not know that it was Congress that sat over Punjabi suba for nearly 14 years. Linguistic states were reorganised from 1952 but Punjabi suba was declared in 1966 and RSS chief was unequivocal that if linguistic states are being made then why is Punjab not made a linguistic state. It was Congress that went on destabilising Akali ministries leading to Anandpur Sahib resolution and slow build up to Khalistani movement in 1980s.

And, the Congress CM claims that RSS and BJP came into Punjab courtesy Akali Dal. Let me also remind Congress party that it was RSS that stood up firmly to fight Khalistanis effort to divide Punjabis on the basis of Sikh vs Hindus. Their slogan was, “Hindu Sikh ko jo ladaave wo desh da bairi hai. Hindu Sikh nu ladan ni dena, San 47 banan ni dena.” (One who tries to make Hindu Sikh fight is an enemy of the nation. We will not allow Hindu Sikh to fight and we will not allow another 1947). They took out huge morchas, held public meetings to underline the message of harmony and unity. They risked their lives. Scores of RSS swayamsevaks lost their lives. There were three attacks on RSS shakhas. We remember the Moga massacre where 25 swayamsevaks lost their lives but next day they were back in their shakhas refusing to be cowed down.

Congress may be unhappy that it could not do enough to perpetrate pogrom against Sikhs in Delhi and other parts of Bharat in 1984, because RSS workers stood up to protect their brethren and help them to whatever extent they could. I had posted a series of eyewitness accounts on Twitter a few weeks back. Many Sikh intellectuals and leaders have acknowledged it too.

To cap it all, Congress CM of Punjab has announced INR 2 lakh reward to all the accused of Red Fort sacrilege of 26 Jan, 2021. A state government is sworn to protect the constitution and law and order. Can it endanger the nation for petty political gains? This behaviour is in line with consistent stand of Congress since 2014 – from JNU ‘tukde tukde’ episode to CAA and Shaheen Bagh, to Article 370 and now Farmer agitation and Red Fort incident, to support such fissiparous agitations. So, who are the enemies of Punjab?

Hindus need to think hard when they go out to vote in the forthcoming elections. It is no more a question of a state government, it is a question of the very existence of a harmonious Punjabi society and integrity of nation. In its urge to somehow defame and defeat Modi ji, Congress and allies have turned anti-Hindu, supported anti-national elements and are trying to destroy integrity of the nation. They can keep digging its own grave for all it matters to us, but they have no right to destroy our nation.
