Punjab Genco Ltd, which comes under the Department of New and Renewable Sources of Energy in the Punjab government.This development has sparked massive controversy.
 
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) have strongly opposed the Punjab government's move of appointing Balwinder Singh as the new chairman of Punjab Genco Ltd. Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal demanded an explanation from CM Channi.
 
 
 
Avtar Singh is the coordinator of the SFJ in the United States (US). Avtar, who is said to be number two in the pro-Kahlistani organisation after its chief Gurpatwant Singh Pannu. He is on the radar of Indian agencies for his pro-Khalistan activities. He has been designated as a terrorist by the NIA under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
 
This is not the first time, earlier, in October, Congress President Sonia Gandhi had appointed 1984 anti-Sikh riots accused Jagdish Tytler as a permanent invitee to the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee.
 
This came days after Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu arrived, heaped praise on Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan and said he is like his elder brother.
