New Delhi, Dec 15: Ahead of the Vijay Parv celebrations, a Bangladesh military delegation is visiting India for the same event. It has recalled and expressed gratitude towards India's efforts in the 1971 Liberation War.
The military delegation is headed by Major General SM Kamrul Hasan. "Excited about being able to visit India. Every year we look eagerly to this event. I'm representing one of the armed forces. We express our heartfelt gratitude to GoI for arranging such a festival," said Major General Kamrul Hasan of the Bangladesh Army.
He did not forget to mention the help of Indian side in the 1971 Liberation War. "The syllabus of our military institutions, as well as the educational institutions, adequately reflects the history of the liberation war. The history of the liberation war in 1971 is not complete without the story of the Indian side," he said. "The young generation of Bangladesh remembers it with gratefulness. They also look forward to furthering our relations in the days to come," he added.
Further, he said, "It is an expression of the deep-rooted ties that we have with India & the cooperation that India did with Bangladesh in the 1971 war. We gratefully remember that & we look forward to strengthening our relationship further in days to come."
Another member of the delegation, Subedar Major Basheer also thanked India for its efforts in securing the freedom of Bangladesh. Haji Noor Uman who was a part of the Mukti Bahini thanked India's contribution to the Liberation War
Retired Lt Colonel KHS Shekawat who participated in the war from the Indian side mentioned that India's victory was possible with the detailed planning of the war since 1969 which made the victory possible.
