The DMK-led Tamil Nadu government is continuing to suppress the voices of journalists who speak against the government. In what they call as "secularism", Tamil Nadu's state police have now again arrested Maridhas over a year old video in which he had criticized Tablighi Jamaat, which has been banned even in Saudi Arabia.

This just comes after the Madras High Court quashed an FIR filed against journalist Maridhas by the Madurai City Cybercrime Police against YouTuber Maridhas over a tweet. The high court, while granting bail to Maridhas, criticised the police for their action against the YouTuber. In the order, Justice GR Swaminathan said that the offences mentioned in the FIR were not made in the tweet.
