New Delhi, December 20: Actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with Panama papers, said reports today. The probe agency wants to question the 48-YO actor in Delhi over the allegations of stashing wealth abroad, said reports. She has reportedly asked for more time.
Aishwarya Rai, the daughter-in-law of veteran star Amitabh Bachchan, had wanted more time twice before when summoned for questioning. The ED started investigating the alleged forex violations in 2017. It had issued notices to Bachchan family, asking them to explain their foreign remittances since 2004 under the Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS) of Reserve Bank of India.
Aishwarya Rai submitted records on the foreign payments under investigation. Sources say the agency wants to record her statement now.

“The Panama Papers” case is an investigation which is spanning across millions of documents stolen, leaked to media in 2016. The case involves allegations that world's rich and powerful set up offshore accounts / shell companies to avoid taxes. The leaked financial records of politicians, industrialists, celebrities worldwide were reviewed, published by International Consortium of Investigative Journalists. Over 300 Indians were said to be part of Panama Papers.
