
New Delhi, Dec 23: Muslim women gathered from all over the country here on Wednesday welcomed the Modi Government's decision to increase the minimum marriage age for girls from 18 to 21. They also hailed the decision to scrap the triple talaq upholding the honor and dignity of Muslim women in India.
Addressing a gathering of Muslim women drawn from accross the country under the aegis of Muslim Rashtriya Manch Mahila Prakoshth at Haryana Bhavan in the National capital, senior RSS leader and Patron of Muslim Rashtriya Manch Indresh Kumar said that the Modi government took this decision to scrap the anti-women triple talaq to stop atrocities against the Muslim women who were suffering from this so long. He said that those who are indulging in politics over Triple Talaq are doing injustice to the Muslim women.
He asked the opposition parties to clear their stand and explain to the people whether they would re-enforce this instant triple talaq for the sake of political mileage.
MRM Mahila Prakoshth Patron Reshma Hussain, National Conveners Shahnaz Afzal, Shalini Ali, MRM National Convener Mohd. Afzal and other office-bearers were conspicuous at the meeting by their presence.
The meeting participated over 100 Muslim women deliberated on various issues pertaining to empowerment and welfare of Muslim women, their education, health, employment and skill development.

During the meeting a book titled “Dastan-e-Yogi”, a biography of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Urdu was released by Indresh Kumar and others present on this occasion. The book was translated from original English titled “The Monk who became Chief Minister” authored by Shantanu Gupta and released originally in 2017.
The delegates thanked the Modi government and particularly Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving them freedom from the pangs of instant triple talaq.
Women participants drawn from various states of India at the meeting Replying to a question on impact of this meeting on coming assembly elections in UP, Indresh Kumar said "When the message of this meeting is carried forward through the social media, then naturally the true picture of RSS and BJP will be in front of everyone and its impact will be ever.
On the issue of raising the minimum marriage age of girls from 18 to 21, he said it will give them the opportunity to pursue their higher education, at least till graduation, or to acquire certain skills which will help them support their family in the future.
The meeting also discussed the strategy to bring Muslim women out of the clutches of fear, hunger and corruption and connect them with the national mainstream. Muslim women also welcomed the government move to increase the minimum age for marriage from 18 to 21.
