Addressing a public rally in Uttar Pradesh's Farrukhabad on Wednesday, Yogi Adityanath said, "We had promised to launch Ram Mandir work in Ayodhya. And now Kashi Vishwanath Dham is also being constructed. How can Mathura-Vrindavan be left out? Work has started there as well."

“Jab Ayodhya ho saka, toh Mathura-Vrindavan kaise chhod denge (If Ayodhya can happen, then how can we not make Mathura-Vrindavan a reality),” he addressed the gathering. It should be noted that Mathura-Vrindavan is considered the janmabhoomi (birthplace) of Lord Krishna.

Earlier this month, BJP Lok Sabha MP from Mathura Hema Malini had expressed that she wants a grand temple of Lord Krishna constructed in Mathura along the lines of Ayodhya and Kashi Vishwanath.

She said, "it is a matter of pride that a grand temple for Lord Ram is being built in Ayodhya, a grand corridor has come up in Varanasi. Now it is time for a grand Krishna temple in Mathura too. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will see how it will happen. But all I have to say is that it should be built with love."
