New Delhi, December 07: Old habits die hard, this proverb perfectly goes with the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Chairman, Farooq Abdullah as he is not getting over with his habit of provoking the Jammu and Kashmir people to disturb the peace of the region.
This time, while giving farmers' protest's example, the J&K National Conference Chairman has asked the people of J&K and his party workers "to be ready for sacrifices to reclaim their rights, including the restoration of Article 370 and statehood, in the same way, that farmers did.
While addressing party workers at Naseembagh, he said, "The farmers protested for 11 months. More than 700 farmers died. The Centre had to revoke the 3 farm bills when farmers made sacrifices. We may also have to make sacrifices like that to get back our rights. "
On November 20, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the three contentious farm laws introduced in 2020 will be repealed. "We haven't been able to explain this to our farmers. This is not a time to blame anyone. I want to tell you that we have taken the farm laws back," he said, urging farmers to return to their homes and fields.
Continuing to provoke people, Abdullah added, "Remember this, we've promised to get back Articles 370, 35-A and statehood and we're ready to make any sacrifice." Farooq Abdullah said that Article 370 of the Constitution of India, which was abrogated in August 2019, has to be reinstated, to bring back normalcy in the Union Territory.
Following his remark, Senior RSS leader Indresh Kumar slammed Abdullah saying it shows that he loves violence, not peace. He suggested that Abdullah should leave the country to live in any other part of the world that he likes if he feels suffocated in India.
In August 2019, the Central government scrapped Article 370, which gave special rights to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, and bifurcated the region into two categories- Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.
