New Delhi, February 26: After the ground breaking ceremony of Ram Temple done, now its the Maryada Purushottam Sriram Airport on the table. In a recent update, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath on Friday said that UP govt's proposal for an international airport in Ayodhya had been approved by the Centre. "About Rs 1,000 crores have been allocated to the district administration. The Central government has disbursed Rs 250 crore", he said.
The airport in Ayodhya would have landing facility for 777 Boeings and double decker planes, as revealed by the Civil Aviation Minister. Once completed, the Ayodhya airport will have air connectivity with major cities in the country and abroad. The state government last year, had decided to upgrade the exist airstrip into a full-fledged airport. The state government also is developing state of the art railway station and bus station also. A 192-kilometer highway connecting Ayodhya with Varanasi is also under construction.
On Tuesday, a resolution was passed by the Uttar Pradesh Assembly to name the Ayodhya airport in UP as Maryada Purushottam Sriram Airport. The UP Assembly cited the importance of the holy town- Ayodhya as an equivalent to heaven as per Atharva Ved. The resolution was tabled a day after an amount of Rs 101 crore was proposed in the annual state budget for the airport along with other development projects that included beautification of the temple town.
As per Ramayana, the Ayodhya town was established by Manu and it was regarded as the capital of Surya Vansh for centuries, the resolution read. Known as a pilgrimage site, Ayodhya is basically the city of temples.
It further mentioned that Ayodhya’s association with Ram dates back to ages. Being Lord Ram’s birthplace, Ayodhya is famous in ancient literature and in Indian history. The resolution further listed ancient temples in the holy town such as Hanuman Gari, Sita Rasoi as well as the temples built in the 18th and 19th centuries like Nageshwarnath, Kanak Bhawan and Darshan Singh temple.
