BJP seeks EC's action against CM Mamata Banerjee for uttering about HM Amit Shah

New Delhi, March 20: Taking action against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lodged a complaint with the Election Commission against her for uttering nonsense about Home Minister Amit Shah during the rally. BJP has also demanded legal action against her.

BJP National Gen-Secy Bhupender Yadav said "Mamata Banerjee, is running a misinformation campaign & hurling false allegations against BJP leaders esp HM. She insulted EC by claiming that it's working as per BJP orders. Requested EC to issue notice & seek clarification from her for lying."
 
 
 
In complaint BJP has accused the Chief Minister of running a "smear campaign" against Shah. . The party also accused the Chief Minister of attempting to tarnish the image of the Union Home Minister and other senior leaders of the party.

BJP in the case said, "The above-mentioned instances are false, fraudulent, derogatory allegations and are made without any basis in law or fact. A smear campaign is being run to tarnish the image & reputation of Shri Amit Shah and other senior leaders of BJP, with the intent to spread misinformation and thereby influence the voters in a wrongful manner."

BJP has further sought legal action against her for her present and past conduct in "gross contempt of and in blatant violation of model code of conduct and electoral laws". "That we request the Election Commission to intervene urgently by taking appropriate legal action against Ms. Mamata Banerjee for her continued fraudulent, baseless and abusive practice and to pass a prohibitory order, otherwise it might spoil the electoral environment, were abusing and spreading false news will become inevitable and the norm," BJP said.

During a rally in Bankura on march 16, TMC supremo had recently alleged that Amit Shah may be influencing the poll-watchdog, EC. Mamata Banerjee had said, "Who is running the election commission, Amit Shah, are you running the election commission?"
