Kangana, Dhanush, Manoj Bajpayee wins big at 67th National Film Awards

New Delhi, March 22: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has finally announced the 67th National Films Awards 2019 on Monday in a press conference in New Delhi. The ceremony felicitated films and artists for the year 2019.

This year a total of 461 feature films had been selected for the awards. The awards were initially scheduled in May last year however they were delayed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic. The awards are given out by the Directorate of Film Festivals, an organisation that comes under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
 
Best Actor, Actress
 
 
 
According to the announcement, Kangana Ranaut, Manoj Bajpayee, Dhanush has bagged the award of Best Actress and, Best Actor Award. Actress Kangna has won the National Award in the Best Actress category for her films Panga and Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. Meanwhile, Manoj Bajpayee and Dhanush have won the Best Actor Award for their films Bhonsle and Asuran.
 
  
Best Supporting Actor, Actress
 
 
Vijay Sethupathi won Best Supporting Actor for Super Deluxe and Pallavi Joshi was awarded Best Supporting Actress for The Tashkent Files. Reacting to the news, Pallavi Joshi said, "When I heard Vivek's name in best dialogues for The Taskent Files, I screamed in excitement, and then came to my name, I wasn't expecting it, but this is such a great honor. Very proud of the film, of Vivek, and it has been a fulfilling journey getting back on screen, this is like the biggest validation."
 
 

Best film
 
Late actor Sushant Singh Rajput's movie, Chhichhore won the award for the Best Hindi Film. While Jersey won for best Telugu film and Asuran won for best Tamil film. Srijit Mukherjee's Gumnami named won the best Bengali film award. Moreover, the Malayalam film Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham (Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea) won the National Film Award for the best feature film.
 

Best Direction
 
Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan bagged the best direction award for his direction in the Bahattar Hoorain movie. The best debut film of a director award goes to Mathukutty Xavier for the film Helen.
