#AzadiKaAmritMahotsav: Indian Consulate in Canda installs Mahatma Gandhi's Ice Statue at Iconic Canadian site

Toronto, March 22: Indian consulate in Canada has kicked off the celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in a different way to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Indian independence. It has installed the sculpture of a seven-foot-tall statue of Indian freedom fighter Mahatma Gandhi at the Iconic ice hotel.

The statue was installed at Hotel de Glace, near Quebec City, North America. It was sculpted by Canadian ice artist Marc Lepire. Lepire used nine blocks of ice and took five hours to create the statue of Gandhi.
 
Indian consulate in Toronto shared the images of the ice sculpture under the hashtag ‘AzadiKaAmritMahotsav’. "Launching #AzadiKaAmritMahotsav, to mark 75 years of India's independence, with an ice sculpture of Mahatma Gandhi in the historic @Hoteldeglace in #Quebec," the caption said.
 
 
Indian government representative and council general in Toronto Apoorva Srivastava was also present during the event. Talking about the development, she said, "We wanted to launch India@75 celebrations at an iconic with an invocation of Gandhiji. " She had approached the hotel for this initiative who wholeheartedly agreed and got their best ice sculptor to create the masterpiece.
 
Hotel de Glace is world-famous because it is the only ice hotel in North America and one of the few across the globe
 
 
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav a 75 weeks of events on the 12 March to commemorate the 75th anniversary of India’s independence in the country and across the world. The 75th-anniversary celebrations will continue till August 15, 2023.
