India, Japan enhances bilateral cooperation through water resources

New Delhi, Mar 23: The Union Cabinet led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given its approval for the Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) which was signed between India and Japan for bilateral cooperation in the field of water resources. This will help in increasing the exchange of information, knowledge, and technology.

The MoC was signed in between the Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation of the Ministry of Jal Shakti of India and Water & Disaster Management Bureau under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport & Tourism of Japan.

The objective of the deal is "developing long-term cooperation in the field of water and Delta management. It would also help in developing cooperation in the field of water technology. The cooperation would increase the exchange of the knowledge, technology, and information."

This will also help in exchanging the scientific allied experience and the implementation of the joint projects between both countries. It will also help in achieving water security, improved irrigation facility and sustainability across the water resources development.
