Senior RSS Pracharak of Assam ‘Gauri Da’ no more

Guwahati, Mar 24: Gaurishankar Chakraborty, popularly known as ‘Gauri Da’, a senior RSS Pracharak of Assam died this morning at Delhi’s M D City Hospital due to prolonged illness.

He was 72 and a bachelor.

A Swayamsevak of RSS from his student days, Gaurishankar Chakraborty was a brilliant student and cleared the Assam State Board HSLC examination securing the third position in order of merit. He did his graduation from the prestigious Cotton College, Guwahati, and Masters in Physics from Krurskhetra University. He also possessed a degree in Law from Delhi University.

After completing his education, Gaurishankar Chakraborty decided to dedicate his life to the service of the nation as a full-time Pracharak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in 1974.

After the 1975 Emergency, he came to Assam and was given various responsibilities as Guwahati Mahanagar Pracharak to Vibhag Pracharak and Prant Pracharak of South Assam Prant. Later he was made Kshetra Sharirik Pramukh, Sah-Kshetra Praacharak Pramukh and an invitee to the Akhil Bharatiya Karyakari Mandal of the RSS.

His demise came as a great loss for the RSS works in Assam and other northeastern states.
