Har Har Mahadev! Kumbh sadhus participate in second shahi snan

Haridwar, Apr 12: Sadhus at Kumbh of various akharas took a holy dip in River Ganga at Har Ki Pauri in Uttarakhand's Haridwar on the occasion of the second 'shahi snan', on Apr 12. The first shahi snan was held on Mar 11 on the occasion of Mahashivratri, while the second is being held today and on Apr 14.

In normal circumstances, Kumbh continues for nearly four months but this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the duration of the congregation has been curtailed to one month. Kumbh Inspector General (IG) Sanjay Gunjyal has informed that, "General public will be allowed here till 7 am. After that, this area will be reserved for akharas".
 
 
 
 
Kumbh is held periodically at four different locations in India; Nashik, Haridwar, Prayagraj, and Ujjain, after every four years. In normal circumstances, Kumbh continues for nearly four months but this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the duration of the congregation has been curtailed to one month.
