PM Modi accepts US Prez invitation, to attend virtual climate summit on 23 April

New Delhi, April 02: Welcoming US President Joe Biden's move, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has accepted Biden's invitation for the climate change summit Ministry of External Affairs said during the press conference. MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi on April 2 said PM Modi has accepted the invitation of US President Joe Biden for the Climate Summit.

Arindam Bagchi said, "President Biden of US, invited PM Modi to attend the climate leaders' summit that will happen virtually...PM welcomed President Biden's initiative and accepted the invitation."
 
Bagchi further informed that PM Modi has welcomed the initiative and is looking forward to attending the virtual summit. The spokesperson further added that US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, John Kerry will be visiting New Delhi from April 5 to April 8. During which he is going to meet India's Environment Prakash Javadekar.

This will be the second virtual interaction of PM Modi with President Biden, after the Quad meet.
 
 
It should be noted that Biden has invited 40 world leaders to the ‘Leaders Summit on Climate’ including PM Modi and China Xi Jinping. The key objectives of the summit are to discuss ways to reduce carbon emissions in the ongoing decade, mobilizing public and private funds to push the net-zero transition, and help countries that are most impacted by climate change.
