One OSC will be set up each in Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, UAE, Qatar, Canada, Australia, and Singapore while TWO OSCs will be set up in Saudi Arabia. Apart from that, 300 OSCs will be set up across India.

“This is to help women overseas, who are victims of violence or are simply stuck due to particular situations. They can now approach these centers for immediate as well as non-immediate support including legal aid, medical support, and counseling,” said a senior official.

There are currently 700 One-Stop Centres in the country since 2015 across 35 states & Union Territories. The OSC scheme is funded by the Nirbhaya Fund. The Central government offers 100 percent financial aid to States or UTs for OSCs.

The scheme was launched under the umbrella scheme “National Mission for Empowerment of Women” and “Indira Gandhi Matritva Sahyog Yojana”. These centers help in providing integrated support and assistance to women affected by violence in private as well as public spaces. Till now, these centers have provided help to more than three lakh women in the country. The WCD Ministry plans to add 300 more such centers across the country this year.
