New Delhi, May 31: In the major development, Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla has filed a plea against the implementation of 5G in India, claiming that the radiation is extremely harmful and injurious to human beings and it will also permanently damage all of the Earth's ecosystems.
She said that, if 5G technology were to be installed, then people and humans will be exposed to radiofrequency radiation (RF) at a rate of 10 times or 100 times the current figure.

In her suit filed before the High Court, Chawla along with Veeresh Malik and Teena Vachani, argued that until and unless 5G technology is "certified safe", its rollout should not be permitted.
In the statement, Juhi clarified that they were not against the implementation of technological advancements, but after doing some research and studies regarding the RF radiation from wire-free gadgets and network cell towers, they've found reason to believe that "the radiation is extremely harmful and injurious to the health and safety of the people.

Chawala said, “We are not against the implementation of technological advancements. On the contrary, we enjoy using the latest products that the world of technology has to offer, including in the field of wireless communications. However, whilst using the latter kind of devices, we are in a constant dilemma, because after doing our research and studies regarding the RF radiation from wire-free gadgets and network cell towers, we have sufficient reason to believe that the radiation is extremely harmful and injurious to the health and safety of the people.”

" The race to develop 5G technology has “somewhat distracted our nation from taking into due consideration some alarming factors to the health of present and future generations,” the actress argued.

The Court was also informed that in April 2019, Brussels (Belgium) became the first major city in the world to halt any further steps in the 5G rollout on account of health hazards.

After hearing the side of Chawla, the Bench of Justice C Harishankar on Monday refused to hear the matter and transferred it to another bench of the Delhi High Court. The matter will now be heard on June 2.
