J&K security force thwarts major terror plot, destroys 2 IED in Pulwama

Jammu, June 02: In the major development, Jammu and Kashmir's security forces foiled another terror plot and averted major tragedy in Pulwama after they recovered two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Pulwama district. Jammu Kashmir police informed about it on Monday. Police said the timely detection of explosives averted major terror incidents.

According to the police, the force recovered the 2 IEDs from two different places in the Awantipora area. The first IED was detected by a joint team of security forces near Railway link road at Panzgam in Pulwama district, while the second IED was detected by the forces at Saimoo in the Tral area of the district.
 
 
 
 
"Inputs were received that #terrorists were planning to carry out #IED attacks which shall be spectacular. Acting swiftly 02 IEDs have been recovered from two different places in #Awantipora area (of Pulwama district)," Kashmir Zone Police tweeted.
 
He said the IED was destroyed by a bomb disposal squad without causing any damage.
 
 
Earlier, an IED was found in an orchard near the Panjgam area of Awantipora in the district. It was too defused by the Bomb Disposal Squad later without causing any damage, they added.
 
 
On 8 may, security forces seized 40 kilograms of high explosive material along with several improvised explosive devices (IEDs) during a joint search operation in Doda district, “The timely recovery thwarted the nefarious designs of terrorists and their supporters to destabilize the security situation in the district,” a defence spokesman said.
