Tamil Nadu extends lockdown till June 21 with more relaxations

Chennai, June 12: Amid the covid situation in the state, MK Stalin-led Tamil Nadu government, has extended the COVID-19 lockdown for another week, till June 21, meanwhile, it has also announced more relaxations in 27 districts of the state.

DMK government has provided additional relaxations in 27 districts, while the 11 districts with a high infection rate will only have limited relaxations. According to the new guidelines, Salons and spas have also been allowed to reopen, and function till 5 PM in the 27 districts. However, they are barred from using air-conditioning inside their premises and are permitted to operate only at 50 percent capacity. Moreover, Government parks will be kept open from morning 6 am to 9 pm.
 
 
While the shops which repair agricultural equipment, pump sets, and related equipment can function between 9 am and 5 pm, the shops which repair mixie, grinder, television sets, and other household utensils, can function between 9 am and 2 pm.
 
 
Under the new set of guidelines, schools and colleges will be allowed to function only for the admission process.
 
The state is under lockdown from May 10. The lockdown has been extended till 6 am on June 14. The decision to extend the lockdown was taken after reviewing the COVID-19 situation in the state. The coronavirus cases are currently declining in the state.
