PM CARES Fund allocates two 250-bed Makeshift COVID Hospitals in Bengal

New Delhi, June 16: Strengthening health infrastructure West Bengal, the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM CARES) Fund Trust has decided to allocate Rs. 41.62 crores for the establishment of two 250 bedded makeshift COVID Hospitals by DRDO at Murshidabad and Kalyani.

For this, certain infrastructural support would also be provided by the State Government and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India, said the PMO. This proposal will augment health infrastructure in West Bengal to effectively manage the COVID situation.

The PM CARES Fund had in its endeavor to support the augmentation of health infrastructure, helped establish COVID Hospitals in Bihar, Delhi, Jammu and Srinagar also.

Earlier, it was announced to provide all kinds of support, a total of 850 oxygen plants are being set up by DRDO in various districts of the country from the PM CARES Fund. Besides, A 500-bed COVID Hospital that has been set up by DRDO at Khonmoh, Srinagar has become operational on Saturday. The hospital was set-up by DRDO in a short span of 17 days and is funded by PM CARES Fund.
