Hyderabad, June 16: Paying tribute to the braveheart Colonel Santosh Babu, who martyred during the violent clashes with Chinese troops in the Galwan Valley, Telangana Minister KT Rama Rao and Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy unveiled the statue of Indian. Minister unveiled the statue in presence of the Colonel’s family members on Tuesday. Yesterday was the first anniversary of the Galwan valley clash.

Talking with the media, Rao said Colonel Santosh Babu would be remembered for his sacrifices until Telangana and India ceased to exist.
 
 
 
Meanwhile, Santhosh Babu’s wife Santhoshi said that her husband’s sacrifice to the nation was a matter of pride for her family, and her husband would go down in history as a true patriot who laid down his life for the nation. She said his sudden demise was a great shock to her and distressed her, but she was now focused on the future of their children.
 
 
 
 
Colonel Babu was a native of Suryapet, about 140 Km from the state capital Hyderabad. Colonel Babu was the commanding officer of the 16 Bihar Regiment. He was among 20 Indian soldiers who laid down their lives in the fierce hand-to-hand combat on June 15 last year in the Galwan Valley.
 
 
He had been awarded the second-highest wartime gallantry honor, the Maha Vir Chakra, for showing "conspicuous bravery in face of the enemy, exemplary leadership, and astute professionalism." Telangana government has given ₹ 5 crores as compensation to Santosh Babu's family, besides a government (Group-I) job to his wife and a residential plot in Hyderabad.
