Safety, the only priority! Centre cancels class 12 board exams

New Delhi, June 01: Emphasizing that student's safety is the only priority, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has canceled the CBSE Class 12 board exams 2021 due to the COVID situation in the country. The government's this decision has ended up the long uncertainty over the examination and give a major relief to the students and their parents. 
 
The decision was taken in the high-level meeting chaired by PM Modi.The meeting was attended by the Home Minister Amit Shah, Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change; Information & Broadcasting; & Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises Prakash Javadekar, and Railway Minister Piyush Goyal.

During the meeting, PM Modi emphasised that the health and safety of the students are of utmost importance and there would be no compromise on this aspect. He also said that in today's time, such exams cannot be the reason to put our youth at risk.
 
 
According to the PMO press release, CBSE will take steps to compile the results of class XII students 'as per a well-defined objective criteria' in a time-bound manner. "It is decided that for any student who is not satisfied with the assessment, an option to appear in the examination would be provided by CBSE as and when the situation becomes conducive," a CBSE release said.
 
Soon after the CBSE exam cancellation, Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) also decided to cancel its Class 12 or ISC Board Exams 2021 in view of the Covid-19 situation across the country. In an official order, CISCE said, "In view of the present situation of the Covid- 19 Pandemic in the country, the CISCE has decided to CANCEL the ISC (Class 12) Year 2021 examination. The safety, health, and wellbeing of our students teaching faculty, and all stakeholders is our topmost priority and of paramount interest."
 
 
The results will be processed on a mechanism that will also include the internal examinations conducted by the schools. The schools will be informed in due course of time, of this mechanism. This decision has come amid when some health experts around the country predicted a third wave may impact children the most.
