New Delhi, June 09: Mark Zuckerberg-owned social media platform 'Instagram' has landed in another trouble, this time for showing Lord Shiva in the wrong light. BJP leader Manish Singh on Tuesday, filed a complaint against Instagram for allegedly hurting the sentiments of the Hindus by showing Lord Shiva in an objectionable manner in one of its stickers. Singh has filed a complaint at Parliament Street police station in New Delhi against the CEO and other officials of Instagram.

According to the complainant, these stickers were not uploaded by any social media users but by the app itself. The complainant claimed the “accused is deliberately and intentionally hurting the feeling and sentiments of the millions and millions of Hindus, including the complainant, by portraying the Lord Shiva, in such a state.”

The GIF sticker of Lord Shiva was seen with a wine glass in one hand and a mobile phone in the other hand on Instagram. In the complaint, Singh has urged the cops to file an FIR against the CEO and other officials of the social media platform under sections 153 and 295A of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Information Technology Act.

“Given the above stated, it is, therefore, most respectfully submitted that a criminal case be registered against the CEO, and other officials of Instagram, who in conspiracy with other persons have committed offenses falling within the parameters of the Indian Penal Code and also under the Information Technology Act," Singh said.

As per reports, many complaints have been raised over the objectionable sticker available on Instagram. Earlier, search engine giant Google projected Kannada as the ugliest language in India.

This incident has come at a time when the government had asked social media platforms to comply with the new IT Rules. Twitter is one such exception that has not yet accepted the rules and has asked for more time to follow them.
