Amit Shah visits Assam Rifles Headquarters, reviews prevailing security situation

Laitkor, July 27: As part of his visit to Meghalaya, Home Minister Amit Shah for the first time visited the Assam Rifles Headquarters at Laitkor, Shillong, and interacted with the Jawans.

During his visit, Shah was briefed on the operational and administrative matters of the Force was by Lt Gen P C Nair, AVSM, YSM, DG Assam Rifles. Shah also reviewed the prevailing security situation in the Northeast.
According to the statement released by the Assam Rifles, Shah was impressed with the extremely scenic and well-laid out garrison. He also stated that this beautiful campus should be an example of how a campus should be. Assam rifles the Guardians of the North East is India’s oldest paramilitary force.
 
 
“In his first visit to the Assam Rifles, Hon’ble Minister was amazed to see the well laid out and maintained campus. The Hon’ble Minister was briefed on the operational and administrative issues of the Force by Lt Gen P C Nair, AVSM, YSM, DG Assam Rifles," it said.
Before the culmination of his visit, Home Minister also had lunch and spent a good time interacting with Officers, Junior Commissioned Officers, and other ranks of Assam Rifles based at Laitkor. During the interaction, Minister praised Jawans for their excellent professionalism and dedication towards service. He also added that the Nation is proud of the operational achievements and contribution of the Force true to its name ‘Sentinels of the North East.
