New Delhi, July 05: In line with India's philosophy of considering the whole world as one family, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India would soon provide an open-source version of its CoWIN to all the countries.
While addressing the CoWIN Global Conclave PM Modi said that covid vaccination platform CoWIN is being prepared to be made open source. Soon, it will be available to all countries.
"Indian civilization considers the whole world as one family. This pandemic has made many people realize the fundamental truth of this philosophy. That’s why, our technology platform for Covid vaccination — the platform we call CoWIN — is being prepared to be made open-source,” Modi said. He further stated that This is the platform through which India has administered 350 million doses of Covid vaccines.
Modi said that in the fight against the pandemic, everyone needed to come together and share their experiences. “India has been committed to its experiences, expertise, and resources with the global community despite constraints,” he said.
He further emphasised the importance of Technology in the battle against COVID 19. "Technology is integral to our fight against Covid and software is one area where there have not been many constraints. Our Covid tracking and tracing app (Aarogya Setu) was made open source last year. The best hope for humanity to emerge successfully from the pandemic is to adopt digitisation,” he added.
He further acknowledged that there is no parallel to such a pandemic, Modi pointed out that experience showed no nation can solve the challenge of Covid-19 in isolation. “There is no parallel to such a pandemic in a hundred years. Experience shows that no nation, however powerful that nation is, can solve a challenge like this in isolation,” he said.
