Security forces break spine of Hizbul Mujahideen ! Gunned down top Hizbul commander in Kashmir

Srinagar, July 07: In yet another major success, the security forces broke down the spine of terrorism and killed the oldest surviving commanders of terrorist outfit Hizbul Mujahideen, Mehraj-uddin alias Ubaid, in an encounter in the Handwara district.

"One of the oldest and top commanders of HM terror outfit Mehrazuddin Halwai alias Ubaid got neutralised in Handwara encounter. He was involved in several terror crimes. A big success," informed Kashmir Zone Police in a tweet, quoting IGP Kashmir.
Kashmir police gave the information about the encounter and said that the successful operation was carried out by a joint team of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army's 32 Rashtriya Rifles, and 92 battalions of CRPF in the Kralgund area of Handwara.
 
Police added that the security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation at Pazipora-Renan in the Handwara area based on a tip-off. He said, 'Security forces cordoned off the Area of Pajipora-Renan in Handwara district on Wednesday morning after receiving information that the militants were hiding. Meanwhile, the militants fired on the security forces and the operation turned into an encounter. Officials said the confectionery was killed in retaliation by the security forces.
 
Ubaid was the HM's one of the oldest terrorists and was the contemporary of slain militant commander Burhan Wani who was killed by the security forces on July 8, 2016. According to the Kashmir zone, police Ubaid had joined terrorist ranks in 2011 and was active in North Kashmir since 2012. He was an A++ categorized militant.
He was involved in many acts of terror including the killing of civilians and security forces including SPO Mudasir Ahmad Dar of Untoo Hamam Sopore in July 2013, Sarpanch Habibullah Mir of Goripora Bomai, four policemen in Hygam Sopore, two Hurriyat activists, and ex-militant Mehraj-ud-Din of Badambagh Sopore. Besides, he was also responsible for misusing social media & new methods of communication for terrorism.
He was instrumental in motivating and hiring young people to terrorists and raising funds to promote terrorist activity,” police said.
