New York Times seeks India govt's help for evacuating its journalists from Kabul

New Delhi, August 13: In the major development, the New York Times, which always left no chance to criticize India, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government, has now surprisingly asked the help from the Modi government.

According to the initial reports, the United state-based newspaper has sought India's help in facilitating the evacuation of its journalists from Afghanistan's capital Kabul, which is likely to be taken over by the Taliban terrorists soon.
 
It is the same New York Times, which had published the op-ed of Taliban leader Sirajuddin Haqqani with the title "What We, The Taliban, Want."

At this point, this should be noted that the United States is sending about 3,000 extra troops within 48 hours to help evacuate embassy staff. The State Department said it would also increase the tempo of Special Immigration Visa flights for Afghans who helped the U.S. effort in the country.

After capturing several provincial capitals, the Taliban yesterday captured Afghanistan's second-largest city, Kandahar. Earlier, the Taliban claimed the capture of Herat, the third-largest city in the country. Today the Taliban says all personnel at Herat International Airport have surrendered to them and have taken full control of the airport.

Over the past few weeks, Talibani fighters have managed to seize several cities, including important buildings such as the governor's office, in those areas. The militant group has also freed several prisoners as they continue their offensive.
