India continues to be helping hand: INS Airavat delivers 10 medical oxygen containers to corona-hit Indonesia

New Delhi, Aug 24: In line with PM Narendra Modi's Mission Sagar to help the world against this coronavirus crisis, India has been sending medical oxygen to help them to mitigate issues such as oxygen shortage.
Continuing this initiative, the Indian Navy’s Landing Ship, Tank (large) INS Airavat on Tuesday delivered 10 Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) containers at Tanjung Priok Port in Jakarta, Indonesia based on the requirement put forth by the country.

On the completion of the disembarkation of the medical supplies and, as part of the ongoing Mission SAGAR, INS Airavat will continue onwards to deliver medical supplies to other friendly nations in the region, the Ministry of Defence said in a statement.

“INS Airavat, with a primary role to carry out amphibious operations is also configured to perform HADR missions and has been a part of various relief efforts across the Indian Ocean in the past. Earlier the same ship had trans-shipped medical aid and had handed over 5 LMO containers (100 MT) and 300 oxygen concentrators to Indonesia on 24 July 2021,” the Defence Ministry said.
 
 
India and Indonesia share a strong cultural relationship and partnership, and have been working together in the maritime domain to build a safer Indo-Pacific Region. "The two navies also regularly carry out joint naval exercises in the form of bilateral exercises and coordinated patrols,” the ministry further said.
