And it is the utter failure of the Pinarayi Vijayan's Kerala model as it has failed to flatten up a covid wave which has been rising day by day. Kerala has reported over 32, 801 fresh cases. It is the third consecutive time that Kerala has been reporting more than 30,000 new COVID-19 cases in a day.

Kerala is one of the worst-hit states in the country, and the southern state now accounts for more than half of all the active Covid-19 cases in the country, followed closely by Maharashtra.

As per the Union ministry of health, Kerala accounts for 70 percent of the total 46759 tallies recorded pan India. The nationwide test positive rate is 2.4 percent, while the test positive rate of the state is above 19 %, up from just over 18% on the previous day. Ernakulam and Thrissur were said to be the worst-affected district.

In the past week, Kerala has reported the second-most number of cases in India accounting for nearly 50% of the country-wide total active case tally. Apart from it, the state also tops in the daily number of deaths with 179 casualties taking the related death toll in the state to 20,313.

Even though the state's covid situation is worsening day by day, the left-liberal media house has to ignore the matter and choose to remain silent on the current situation.

With Kerala's Covid cases rising, the state has now become the cause of concern for the Centre. Looking at the situation in Kerala, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan has also shot off another letter to the state government expressing serious concerns over the situation. Kerala has recorded on an average 150 deaths due to Covid-19 in the last two weeks.

Bhushan listed out immediate measures to contain the surge and also stressed that the state would have to ramp up its containment measures on a priority basis and increase tests considerably to check the high transmission.

Earlier, the central government has also directed the states of Kerala and Maharashtra to consider night curfews in areas with high COVID-19 cases.

The new caseload showcases how the Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan-led government has failed to contain the covid cases in the state. This also showcased how the new state's Health Minister Veena George has failed in her duties. It seems like the Kerala government is paying the cost of betraying former Health Minister KK Shailaja.
