Iqbal Singh Lalpura takes over as Chariman, National Commission for Minorities

A former IPS officer, Lalpura is also an author and a scholar. In his illustrious career as a Police Officer, he has been awarded the President"s Police Medal for meritorious service.

New Delhi, September 10:  Sardar Iqbal Singh Lalpura took over the appointment of Chairman, National Commission for Minorities, Government of India, in a simple function held at the Commission Office in CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi.

A former IPS officer, Lalpura is also an author and a scholar. In his illustrious career as a Police Officer, he has been awarded the President's Police Medal for meritorious service. As a scholar, he has been awarded the Shiromani Sikh Sahitkar Award and Sikh Scholar Award.
 
Lalpura was a National Spokesperson of the BJP before taking over as Chairman NCM. Being a farmer from Punjab he holds the view that the leaders of the Farm Agitation should hold dialogue with the centre that is ready to give a sympathetic hearing to their demands and make required changes to the Farm Law's in a manner that meets their aspirations.
 
The rigid stand of accepting nothing less than repeal of the laws not facilitating opening of avenues for resolving the issues. Prominent leaders from Punjab who were present during the ceremony include S. Jaswinder Singh Dhillon (Amritsar); S. Jagmohan Singh Saini (Patiala); S. Kuldeep Singh Kahlon (Amritsar); S. Nirmal Singh (Mohali).
