US Envoy for Climate to visit India from September 12-14, to discuss climate crisis

Washington DC, September 11: US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry will travel to India from September 12-14 in a bid to engage with Indian counterparts to address the climate crisis. The dignitaries will discuss global threats posed by the climate crisis.

According to the US State Department's press release, Kerry will meet with Government of India counterparts and private sector leaders to discuss efforts to raise global climate ambition and speed India's clean energy transition.
 
During his visit, India and the US will launch the Climate Action and Finance Mobilization Dialogue (CAFMD), one of the two main tracks of the US-India Agenda 2030 Partnership that President Biden and Prime Minister Modi announced at the Leaders Summit on Climate in April 2021.
 
 
During the special US Envoy's visit, the US and India will initiate the Climate Action and Finance Mobilization Dialogue (CAFMD) which is considered as one of the two primary components of the US-India Agenda 2030 Partnership. Initially, President Biden and Prime Minister Modi had proposed this agenda at the Leaders' Summit on Climate in April 2021.
 
"During his visit, the United States and India will launch the Climate Action and Finance Mobilisation Dialogue (CAFMD), one of the two main tracks of the US-India Agenda 2030 Partnership that President (Joe) Biden and Prime Minister (Narendra) Modi announced at the Leaders Summit on Climate in April 2021," the State Department said.
 
The visit of Special Envoy to India will further strengthen the United States' bilateral as well as multilateral climate initiatives prior to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) of the 26th Conference of the Parties (COP26), which will take place in Glasgow, United Kingdom, from 31 October to 12 November.
