Dehradun, Sept16: The high court in Nainital has lifted the prohibition on the Chardham Yatra and ordered that it adhere to COVID19 regulations. Additionally, the court demands mandatory COVID19 negative tests and double immunisation certificates for fervent believers.

On June 28th, Uttarakhand High Court's bench of Chief Justice Raghvendra Singh Chauhan and Justice Alok Kumar Varma opted to put a stay to the Uttarakhand State Cabinet's decision to hold the Chardham Yatra, citing that the decision is arbitrary and unreasonable and violates Article 14 of the Indian Constitution. However, new developments and a decrease in the number of new patients, as well as the rapid pace of vaccinations across India, led to a relaxation of these restrictions.
