New Delhi, September 16: The ‘Swarnim Vijay Mashaal’ was received with full Military honor at Kranti Maidan in Goa on Wednesday, during a ceremony conducted by the Army’s 6 Technical Training Regiment and 2 signal Training Centre, said the Defense Ministry.

The press release said that the ceremony for the felicitation of the 1971 war veterans was organized in presence of the Union Arts and Culture Minister Govind Gawde, and prominent officers from Civil Administration.
 
 
 
The Minister laid a wreath at the War Memorial in order to honor the brave hearts who made the supreme sacrifice during the 1971 war, presented mementos to the veterans.
 
He urged citizens to come forward in support of the members of the Armed forces, and especially the veterans who deserve unconditional support and commitment, said the statement.

The ceremony held at Ponda, was the last military function at Goa after which the Victory Flame would be moving to its next destination before culmination of its journey on December 16 in New Delhi, the statement added.

The release said, “It was a matter of great pride and honor for citizens of Goa who gathered in large numbers to take part in this event.”
