'Captain is out of the game too': Cap. Amrinder Singh resigns as CM of Punjab

Captain Amarinder Singh has met Punjab Governor and submitted his and his council of ministers’ resignation.

Amritsar, Sept18: After over 50 party MLAs from Punjab wrote to party president Sonia Gandhi asking for the dismissal of chief minister Amarinder Singh, Congress has scheduled a 5 p.m. party meeting in Chandigarh.

Observers Ajay Maken and Harish Choudhary, as well as state party chief Harish Rawat, attended the meeting where CM declared his resignation. In the 117-member state assembly, the Congress Party has 80 MLAs. CM Captain Amarinder Singh has met Punjab Governor and submitted his and his council of ministers’ resignation. 
 
Captain said, "They could appoint a CM they trust. Whatever the Congress president decides is good with me". He showed some discomfort too saying, "The way the conversation went down today has humiliated me. This morning, I spoke with the speaker of the House and informed him that I would be quitting as of right now. After meeting with MLAs for the third time in as many months, I made the decision to resign. Whoever they (the party's high command) put their trust in will be able to transform them (Punjab CM). I'm a member of the Congress party and will confer with my fellow members before making any decisions about the future. Singh after he resigned as Punjab's chief minister."
