Modi reaches US; to meet US Vice-President, global CEOs on first day of US visit

On the very first day, Modi is scheduled to meet Australian counterpart Scott Morrison.

Washington DC, September 23: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Washington on Wednesday for his three-day visit to the United States. He was welcomed by the members of Indian-American community members who stayed at the Joint Base Andrews despite rain.

PM Modi was received by Indians living in the US who welcomed him by waving the Indian flag. PM Modi thanked the Indian diaspora for the warm welcome. This is Modi's first official trip abroad since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
 
 

On the very first day, Modi is scheduled to meet Australian counterpart Scott Morrison. Then he will meet the CEOs of five major companies - Qualcomm, Adobe, First Solar, General Atomics and Blackstone .
 
After that he will meet US Vice-President Kamala Harris at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building. The meeting is expected to last for about an hour. "I am also looking forward to meeting Vice President Kamala Harris to explore opportunities for cooperation between our two nations particularly in the area of science and technology," PM Modi said on Wednesday, just before leaving for the US.

On Friday, PM Modi is scheduled to hold a maiden bilateral meeting with President Joe Biden and participate in the first in-person Quad Summit at the White House.

After concluding his engagements in Washington, PM Modi will travel to New York to attend the UN General Assembly on September 25. The Prime Minister is scheduled to address the General Debate of the High-Level Segment of the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA)
