This year adding more to the special gestures towards the Indian soldiers, a sculptor from Mumbai has prepared a beautiful sculpture of Lord Ganesha and also has created a border view showcasing the tensions between the two countries, India and Afghanistan. According to the reports, this sculpture has been sent today to the borders for the Indian soldiers to be a part of the Ganesh Festival celebrations.
While that happens, here in the state of Maharashtra, Mumbai police is gearing up to provide security across the city during the festive season. As people come out on the streets to celebrate the festival, police has started taking action against people if they are found not wearing masks.
Instructions to this effect were issued by Vishwas Nangre Patil, Joint CP (Law and Order), on September 1. All the police stations in the metropolis have been asked to act against the violators, he said. Mumbai reported 441 new Covid-19 cases on September 2, the second straight day of more than 400 infections, and three fresh fatalities. The city has been witnessing a steady rise in Covid-19 infections from the day after reporting 190 cases on August 16, which was the lowest daily count since April 2020.
Ganeshotsav is celebrated annually to mark the birth of Lord Ganesha, the God of new beginnings and a fresh start. Lord Ganesha is considered to be a symbol of wisdom, writing, travel, commerce and good fortune. He is also addressed as Gajanana, Ganesh, Gajadant that are among his 108 names.
