The incident was brought to light by West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar who termed the explosions as “worrisome”. While condemning the bomb explosion incident, Dhankhar said that the violence outside the parliamentarian’s residence revealed there was no sign of wanton violence abating in Bengal. The governor further said he would expect prompt action from the state police.

According to the police, at least three bombs were hurled amid the presence of security personnel from the Central Reserve Paramilitary Force (CRPF). The incident took place around 6.30 am. While no member of Arjun Singh’s family was hurt, the incident took place in presence of central security right outside the gate. Singh has been provided security cover by the Central government.

Meanwhile, a huge contingent of the police force from Barrackpore Commissionerate has been rushed to his residence and an investigation has been initiated to identify the culprits.
