Lucknow, Sept 9: Gearing up for Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) appointed Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan as the election in charge for the state. BJP also announced the names of co in-charges for the elections being held early next year.

The BJP has taken in 13 Union ministers, including seven of Cabinet rank, for poll-related duties in the states. The party has given the responsibility for Uttar Pradesh elections to Union Education minister Dharmendra Pradhan. He succeeds senior leaders like Om Mathur, Union Home minister Amit Shah, BJP president JP Nadda and late Arun Jaitley in the role of election in-charge of Uttar Pradesh.
 
It should be noted that has been election in-charge of Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka and was co in-charge during Bihar polls. In a significant development, Pradhan was given charge of the Nandigram constituency where BJP candidate Suvendu Adhikari defeated Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in WB polls held this year.

Fighting for 403 assembly seats, he will be assisted by Union Ministers Anurag Thakur, Arjun Ram Meghwal, Shobha Karandlaje and Annapurna Devi besides Rajya Sabha MPs Saroj Pandey and Vivek Thakur and former Haryana minister Captain Abhimanyu. Meanwhile, Lok Sabha MP Sanjay Bhatia, Bihar MLA Sanjiv Chaurasia, BJP national secretaries Y Satya Kumar and Arvind Menon, UP leader Sunil Ojha and the party’s co-treasurer Sudhir Gupta will head operations in western UP, Braj, Awadh, Gorakhpur, Kashi and Kanpur regions respectively.
 
 
Further, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Pralhad Joshi has been appointed in charge of Uttarakhand for the upcoming Assembly election in 2022 and BJP MP Locket Chatterjee has been appointed as a co-in charge for the polls.

For the assembly polls scheduled in Punjab, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has been appointed as the election in-charge for the state, while Union Ministers Hardeep Singh Puri and Meenakshi Lekhi has been appointed as co-in charges. Besides, Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav has been given charge of the upcoming assembly elections in Manipur. Meanwhile, Union Minister Pratima Bhoumik and Assam Minister Ashok Singhal have been appointed as the co-in charges for the same.
 
Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who played a role in BJP’s victory in Bihar, has been made party election in-charge for Goa. Ministers G Kishan Reddy and Darshana Jardosh will be co-in-charge in Goa.
 
Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, Manipur, and Punjab Assembly elections are scheduled to take place next year.
