"Welcoming Malvika Sood Sachar, sister of social worker and actor, Sonu Sood, into the party-fold. I am sure Malvika will serve the people with full honesty and integrity and help spread the message of the Congress party at the grass-root level," tweeted Channi, sharing a picture with the duo and Sidhu.

Before entering politics, Mavika Sood has worked extensively in the social sector. She was one of the core team members of Sonu Sood's NGO The Sood Foundation at the time of the migrant crisis during the first wave. Malvika, along with her husband Gautam Sachar, had joined Sonu Sood's Team Ghar Bhejo that worked for arranging modes of commutation for stranded migrant workers.

As Channi hailed Malvika’s entry, Sidhu described the development as a "game-changer" ahead of the February 14 assembly polls. "It is very rare that a party chief and the chief minister both have gone to someone's home to grant the honour, and she deserves it," Sidhu said.
