Lucknow, Jan 26: A video of Samajwadi Party candidate Adil Chaudhary saying that not a single person will be spared when the party is voted to power in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election has gone viral on social media.

Adil Chaudhary could be heard referring to a person not mentioned by name in the clip and claiming that this person said: “Do not be worried, we are going to form the government. Not a single person will be spared, God willing. The way they are committing crimes against us, we will take revenge, and they will think 100 times before doing anything again.”

BJP national spokesperson Amit Malviya also shared the video and alleged that the SP candidate was threatening Hindus, even though Chaudhary could not be heard naming any community in the video.

“Adil Chaudhary, the SP candidate from Meerut South, threatened Hindus, saying, ''If we form the government, they will not be spared... will be avenged one by one,” tweeted Amit Malviya while sharing the video.

He also slammed SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, questioning if he had only nominated poll candidates who were “anti-Hindu goons like Nahid Hasan and Adil Chaudhary”.

Adil Chaudhary’s remarks were greeted by applause from the small gathering of people who were listening to his speech.

Media reached out to Adil Chaudhary, who did not give a straight answer when asked to clarify the comments he made in the video. He accused the BJP of editing the video and claimed the saffron party was capable of using “any means necessary”.

Meerut City SP Vineet Bhatnagar said an investigation has been initiated into the video of Adil Chaudhary in which the SP candidate was issuing threats.

“The video has been sent for analysis. If there were any remarks made in it that were in violation of the Election Commission's Moral Code of Conduct, a case will be registered and appropriate action will be taken," said Meerut City SP Vineet Bhatnagar.

Such statements by SP leaders like Adil Chaudhary and fielding candidates like Nahid Hasan from Kairana, is likely to divide the communities in Western UP. Such things could prove counterproductive to SP strategy of getting Jat and Muslim votes in UP, for which they have formed an alliance with RLD. Such incidents can again unite Hindus and make Jats vote as Hindus again and not as Jats alone.
