Fatehpur, Jan 08: The Punjab government has filed an FIR in connection with the PM's security breach in Fatehpur. However, The FIR registered by Police against 'Unknown' Protestors who stalled PM Modi’s cavalcade in Ferozepur, carries a maximum Penalty of just ₹200. This has now resulted in another round of political allegations and counter allegations between BJP and the Congress.
The Punjab Police registered an FIR on Friday in connection with the breach in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's security during his visit to Punjab.
The incident happened on Wednesday when PM Modi's convoy was stranded for around 20 minutes on a flyover due to a blockade by farm protesters in Ferozepur, Punjab. He returned from a poll-bound state without attending any event, including a rally.
The Centre described the incident as a "major security lapse" and even blamed the Congress government in Punjab for the security breach. Punjab Chief Minister Charan Singh Channi, however, claimed that a last-minute change of travel plans by PM Modi led to the situation.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has agreed to hear a petition seeking a thorough investigation into the alleged security lapses on Wednesday.

A day after the security breach, Channi's government constituted a committee of retired Justice Mehtab Singh Gill and Principal Secretary, Home Affairs and Justice, Anurag Verma to conduct an investigation into the matter.
Also, the home ministry has constituted a three-member team to inquire into a serious security breach during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Punjab. The three-member committee has been asked to inquire about the lapses in the security arrangements of PM Modi “which led to the exposure of the VVIP to grave risk” and submit the report at the earliest.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court is set to hear a petition seeking a thorough investigation into the alleged security lapses during PM Modi's Punjab visit. The top court will take up the plea, filed by the NGO Lawyers Voice, on Friday.
On Friday, the Punjab government submitted a report to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), detailing the sequence of events leading up to the security breach. Sources said extra manpower was deployed on the ground in wake of protests that were happening across Punjab. The government has meanwhile termed the protests as 'spontaneous'.
